To be a strong candidate for the Quality Engineer opportunity, you will have:
  • 5 years’ minimum experience in a Quality discipline; experience in optical or wholesale laboratory environment highly preferred.
  • BS degree in Engineering.
  • Superior knowledge of ISO Quality system requirements and/or Class 1 Medical Devices. 
  • Demonstrated competency in facilitation skills.
  • Experienced with modern quality practices and applications.
  • Team-oriented, with strong personal commitment.
  • Project management skills.
  • Communication skills - verbal and written; comfortable with teaching teams or groups.
  • Computer skills: Highly skilled in Microsoft Office practical applications, QMS programs, preferred experience with statistical software packages (such as MINITAB).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to ALL Management levels, both internally and externally, while representing our company in a professional manner.   
  • Advanced Computer Skills in Microsoft Office, Access, PowerPoint, Mini Tab. 
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Capability Process Control, process sampling systems and procedures and statistical techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Must be self-starter, highly organized, manage to priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Working knowledge of ophthalmic manufacturing process and coating process.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus, but not required.
  • ASQ Certification is a plus but not required.

Lead Through Influence and Strong Change Management Skills
Reporting to the Quality Manager, as a Quality Engineer, you will Contribute to ELOA Quality general activities such as documentation development, document control system operation and maintenance, validations planning, execution and reporting, internal auditing, Corrective Action Requests (CAR) system operation and maintenance, and quality metrics analysis and reporting. 

You will support process control and improvement activities using statistical analysis and modern basic quality practices (such as histograms, Pareto charts, SPC, data collection and analysis, etc.). And you can also expect to assist in generating, monitoring, and communicating lab performance metrics to identify areas where to apply process control and improvement activities.

Your primary goal as a Quality Engineer will be to help the operation produce better results and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through your quality activities. 

More specifically, your primary responsibilities will be to:
  • Be responsible for the creation, modification, and review of standard operating procedures and work instructions. 
  • Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the ELOA Document Control system, including database maintenance, issuing documents, archiving obsolete documents, document approval cycles, etc.
  • Operate, maintain, and communicate the corrective and preventive action system, assisting the labs in proper use of CAR forms.
  • Assist with ELOA labs internal audits, reports issue, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Assist in the evaluation of lab best practices, using the ELOA Document Control system to communicate these to the lab network.
  • Assist in the development and communication of quality metrics to evaluate lab performance and direct process control and improvement activities.
  • Assist with communication strategies for the ELOA Quality initiatives.
  • Assist in the Cosmetic Inspector Certification program deployment and maintenance.
  • Position requires travel to ELOA lab locations.
  • Other ELOA quality-related assignments, as required.
You will join a team that includes Auditors, Inspectors and Trainers. 

You will primarily work during the day but will flex your hours as needed to gain visibility across teams and address problems that arise on the second shift. You'll always follow the problems wherever they lead to find resolutions. You'll sit in an office that is external to production, but you can expect to visit the lab and production floor as needed.
