Opportunity Overview
Reporting to the Industrialization Manager, you will work with the Global Engineering team at our Technology and Innovation Center on the Dallas campus. We support the industrial laboratories that make our eyeglass lenses in the U.S., Canada, and South America. The Dallas team consists of five engineers (including you) working on industrial and manufacturing process engineering tasks to support different lab processes. Most of your time will be spent working with process engineers in our labs to help support manufacturing processes (either remotely or on site). You’ll gather production / performance data, analyze gaps, develop corrective actions and implement them, and engage in a variety of process improvement work tasks.
Role Details
You’ll build relationships with the Process Engineers who work in the lab facilities, who will then be our communication path into the lab and who will be a large part of your feedback loop. For example, our team will hand off new process elements, then you may be asked to deliver training to the engineers in the lab, who will then go on to train the rest of the employees in that facility. They will measure machine performance and turn around to give that information back to the Global Engineering team. More specifically, you will:
- Deploy new products, processes & technologies, and validate proper deployment through execution of validation plans, to the American Zone lab network.
- Participate in the building of tools/scripts for use in the team's processes (support, assessments).
- Deliver trainings and knowledge transfers covering standard operating procedures, and process standards, to Rx laboratories, and to lab technical support groups using the LOFT training modules.
- Maintain and deliver training modules covering standard operating procedures and process standards to Rx laboratories and to lab technical support groups.
- Perform equipment, process & Rx laboratory assessments focusing on process standards, process control, calibration, maintenance, product conformity and industrial performance.
- Define action plans w/ lab and stakeholders and follow-up on implementation.
- Participate in the industrial pilots conducted in our Rx lens processing laboratories.
- Define and maintain process control methods and procedures required for process reliability and intended product conformity.
- Support technical risk analysis by providing insight on technical challenges and anticipating risks for relevant engineering activities and projects.
- Capture and analyze machine and production capability and performance data (EER, OEE, consumables, throughput, errors, kick-outs, etc.)
- Identify issues in product conformity, process and industrial performance and provide inputs to drive the surfacing process continuous improvement cycle.
- Analyze the needs of customers and stakeholders to identify mid-term issue resolution.
- Communicate at all levels within the Organization on project status, progress, results, and important technical points through reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and web-based tools.
- Keep up-to-date on relevant Surfacing, Edging and Mounting technologies as well as monitoring competitor actions through available internal and external tools.
- Visit with vendors and suppliers.
- Deploy and maintain dashboards for the global engineering teams and the labs (Qlikview, web-based tools, etc.).
