To be a good fit for this opportunity, you will have:
  • An AA degree or 2-year college degree in electronics, or equivalent experience in electronic maintenance and repair.
  • 2 to 5+ years of working experience in a technical or mechanical trade.
  • Experience with machinery helpful.
  • Optical background helpful.
  • Must have electrical background.
  • Must have working knowledge of electronics and electrical wiring.
  • Experience working on production equipment strongly preferred.
  • Must have previous experience working on electronic equipment.
  • Experience using and operating a computer.
  • PLC experience a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Electronic training or Electrician License is preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Strong problem solving skills and possess ability to trouble shoot and repair new technology Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate with others to accomplish daily outputs.
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
  • Ability to work in close physical proximity with others.
  • Ability to navigate computer based menus and commands.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Physical requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ISO, OSHA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of production equipment in our optical facility. We'll train you to operate and maintain technical computer-controlled optical machinery and equipment, and perform preventative maintenance as needed. Outstanding communication skills are essential as frequent interactions with key personnel in all departments will be required. We'll look to you to have a positive influence on others and an ability to adjust to shifting priorities.

Daily maintenance functions include:
  • Daily servicing, calibrating, troubleshooting and repair of optical machinery, including automated lens surfacing, finishing, and AR equipment, velocity coating machinery, and hard coating machinery.
  • Perform scheduled and non-scheduled production equipment maintenance.
  • Track and perform Preventative Maintenance on all equipment via PM checklists.
  • Assist supervisor in scheduling work and determining needs for equipment and supplies.
  • Provides training, work direction and guidance to Jr. Techs in maintenance department duties.
  • Conduct machine startup and shutdown daily and as needed.
  • Operate technical computer controlled machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose electronic failures at the component level using electronic schematic diagrams.
  • Communicate with equipment vendor technicians both in writing and verbally.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of machinery and equipment.
  • Clean machines, equipment and workspace daily and perform scheduled maintenance.
  • Fill out maintenance work orders.
  • Troubleshoot using mechanical, electrical, and electronics knowledge.
  • Calibrate new equipment as needed.
  • Perform plumbing work as needed on equipment.
  • Suggests procedure changes to improve department efficiency and safety issues.
  • Responsible for sourcing machine parts at lowest cost (i.e. Internet vs. Manufacturer).
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the changing needs of the job.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner, according to company policy and OSHA regulations, including “Lock out / Tag out”.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment to include light housekeeping.
  • Perform light-duty building maintenance including loading trash to dumpster, breaking down packing materials.
  • Participate in all Lean Manufacturing initiatives and daily routines.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
