To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Account Executive opportunity, you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree is highly preferred

Reporting to the District Sales Manager, you will serve as the first level of contact with existing accounts and also pursue new business in your territory. Representing the products and services of Essilor Labs of America (ELOA), you'll work primarily with independent eyecare professionals, including franchises and some multi-location practices.

You'll start with a book of business, including a number of established accounts, and invest about 75% expanding that business and ensuring each account is receiving excellent service. The other 25% will be dedicated to prospecting for new business. You'll be responsible for sales performance, customer relations, and growing sales volume for Essilor branded products. In addition, you'll be responsible for the acquisition and growth of your channel partners' (ECPs) business and loyalty through the positioning and delivery of branded products, marketing strategies, service excellence and technical superiority.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Utilizing corporate tools and applications to document, plan, monitor, and meet sales objectives within your territory
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with customer service and lab personnel to ensure successful customer relations
  • Consistently achieving established sales goals, managed care optimization and practice growth
  • Communicating on an ongoing basis with your supervisor regarding personal development, sales results, and plans of action
  • Leveraging the knowledge you gain through ride-withs, call-ins and other communication with your supervisor
Additional responsibilities will include:
  • Using a consultative selling approach with customers that drives immediate sales and establishes long-term business partnership. Varying your sales approach as necessary, based on audience, segmentation, product, etc.
  • Monitoring and analyzing changes in the market, competitor activity and customer base, and adjusting sales plans accordingly
  • Building and implementing a sales plan/strategy for all accounts, and an in-depth strategy for key accounts
  • Partnering with lab personnel to gain an in-depth understanding of account opportunities and adjust call schedules and business plans accordingly
  • Conducting highly effective account seminars for large and small audiences
  • Anticipating and addressing customer needs and issues proactively; resolving customer issues in a timely manner, and in partnership with the lab, and using these opportunities to build stronger relationships

Relationship building is a strong component of this role, and you should take a full-office approach to interacting with opticians, physicians, owners, front desk personnel and others. Essilor's strong reputation will open doors for you, but it also sets a high standard -- you will have to work hard to meet heightened expectations. At times this will require a tough skin, as you will be on the front line of resolving issues and mistakes. You'll also need to build relationships with internal contacts and be proactive about reaching out for support.

While the role focuses on account management, you should bring the entrepreneurial drive of a hunter. You'll get to know your existing customers and their businesses, always looking for ways to expand accounts, and should also take advantage of Essilor resources, such as brand specialists, to support your efforts. Success will require that you maintain the right balance between being aggressive and establishing trust-based relationships.
