  • Demonstrated competence in supervising others, including experience coaching and developing employees and motivating them to meet performance goals.
  • An understanding of how to improve processes and adjust employees’ tasks to balance workflow.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word; ability to learn production and other software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address trends.

Preferred but not required:

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will oversee the 2nd shift, finishing production team including approximately 30 associates. Your overall goal will be to ensure production is efficient by monitoring work and organizing workflows. You'll spend most of your time on the floor engaging with employees and problem-solving to keep production moving smoothly, but you will also be responsible for some reporting and administrative duties. You'll ensure systems are followed and work quality is high, and coach, counsel, and motivate employees as needed. Your goals will include effectively organizing and communicating with your team, peers, and manager, meeting performance standards, and troubleshooting as needed throughout your shift.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing and directing all 2nd shift finishing production activities.
  • Providing direction, organization, coordination, communication, and employee development for the team.
  • Controlling labor and material costs, ensuring safety requirements and practices are maintained, and ensuring that team members are working together to meet customer needs.
  • Building a cohesive team by leading by example, supporting a team-oriented culture, and communicating effectively with team members.
  • Achieving exceptional customer care by improving quality and service.
  • Providing employees with clear performance objectives tied to lab performance for quality, productivity, service, and growth.
  • Performing regular audits to ensure that correct procedures are being followed and machines are properly calibrated. Immediately document and post any changes to SOPs.
  • Analyzing problems that arise, gathering needed data, determining actions that will solve problems, decreasing costs, and/or improve yields. Recommending changes and take initiatives by implementing solutions on the floor.
  • Leading lean initiatives/projects to improve process flow, throughput, and overall lab performance.
  • Maintaining department unit costs by managing and anticipating consumables, labor, equipment, and maintenance expenses.
  • Supporting the hiring and retention processes through interviews, orientations, 45/90 day reviews, maintaining current and accurate performance and attendance records; managing behavior and performance issues. 
  • Providing regular and timely recognition to employees; coaching to improve performance.
  • Communicating openly and consistently with the Production Manager regarding the status of your department/team.
  • Working flexible hours including weekends, as needed, in order to meet lab and department objectives. 
  • Performing other duties as required and assigned.
We run three shifts, with the heaviest production on the 2nd shift. You'll both take the pass off from the first shift, walking the floor and understanding each day's schedule, challenges, and expectations, and pass to the 3rd shift, relating all essential information. Challenges on the floor can change from hour to hour, so you'll carefully monitor production, problem solve and move lab associates as needed to meet demands.
