To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Training Coordinator opportunity, you will have:
  • 2+ years’ experience in training and development, including production environments.
  • Optical/optometry experience is strongly preferred.
  • The ability to perform data entry accurately.
  • A high school diploma; an associate's degree is strongly preferred. Quick question for you - click here
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing is a plus.
Just as important will be the following competencies and characteristics:
  • A positive attitude and patience with new team members.
  • An outgoing personality and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to document and follow through on project plans.
Important: This is not a 9 to 5 job. You'll need to be flexible in order to work with people on the first, second and third shifts. For the most part you'll work Monday through Friday, but you also will need to work on Saturdays as needed.

You will report to and partner with the Master Trainer to facilitate and coordinate training programs for new and existing employees. Responsibilities will include leading technical training classes, mentoring production trainers, record keeping in accordance with our quality management system (QMS), and evaluation of learning programs in alignment with company priorities.

For the most part, you will train lab technicians in various production areas. You'll partner with associates who also are certified trainers and coaches. In many cases, they will deliver training, and in other cases, you will. An important responsibility will be documenting training, including distributing it and getting appropriate sign-offs.

More specifically, you will:
  • Coordinate and deliver new hire onboarding classes. Quick question for you - click here
  • Serve as subject matter expert for technical skills (Lensometer, ANSI, Inspection, etc.).
  • Mentor production trainers on proper delivery of Learning Organized for Tomorrow (LOFT) training programs.
  • Assist in the development of classroom training content, which includes working with documents and developing activities to enhance learning.
  • Maintain schedule of training courses and submit required notification to attendees.
  • Prepare and set up classroom environments.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as creating and updating records for each training course.
  • Conduct follow-up audits of all completed training to evaluate and measure effectiveness.
  • Learn LOFT programs and help guide trainers through initial learning activities.
