To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Lab Technician I or II opportunity, you will have:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience in a production environments. Optical lab experience would be ideal.
  • Technical aptitude, and the ability to work with fine detail. Experience with art and/or crafting, professionally or as a hobby, can be helpful.
  • Dependability and reliability.
  • The ability to:
    • Work independently, with minimal supervision.
    • Communicate effectively in a team environment.
    • Perform basic addition and subtraction.
    • Understand decimal numerical sequencing.
    • Multi-task and prioritize.
  • Good judgment and decision making skills.
You need to know:
  • This position requires that you stand and walk for the duration of any shift.
  • You'll need to use close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • You'll work with and around chemicals. We'll provide personal protective equipment (PPE), but the work area does get wet and dirty.
  • You'll need to be able to lift and move 15 to 25 lbs. to waist height on a regular basis.
In addition to following a safety-first approach, we are currently observing COVID-19 protocols to ensure the health and safety of visitors and employees. That means you will need to wear a face covering if and when you interview. For employees, we provide masks, perform daily temperature checks and follow social distancing.

Role Overview

Your primary focus will be to accurately tint all lenses going through the tinting department. Duties in this position are usually repetitive, requiring analysis and use of individual judgment. Specific duties for this position include ensuring that tint baths have proper temperature, following job specifications for tint instructions/color, and ensuring color consistency.

More specifically, you will:
  • Review work ticket instructions and tint lenses accordingly.
  • Place required lenses on metal trays and put them in the oven. When complete, you'll remove them from the oven and sort them into trays.
  • Receive and sort trays appropriately.
  • Mark and spot lenses for gradient tints.
  • Remove all markings from lenses prior to tinting.
  • Check lenses to ensure color and intensity match.
